In our forest restoration program, thousands of native trees are grown in plastic nursery bags every year. In fact, we plant between 30,000-50,000 trees every year! Instead of throwing those bags away after planting, we carefully collect and recycle every single one. Those used bags are sent to a manufacturer and transformed into something incredible: Tití Posts — durable fence posts made entirely from recycled plastic that Proyecto Titi purchases for our programs.
These Tití Posts help landowners build fences without cutting down trees for wooden posts, reducing pressure on the forest while giving plastic a second life. It’s a perfect example of a circular solution:
🌱 Grow trees
♻️ Recycle materials
🪵 Replace wood with recycled plastic
🐒 Protect habitat for critically endangered cotton-top tamarins
On Global Recycling Day, we’re proud to show that conservation and innovation go hand in hand. Because protecting forests also means rethinking waste. Want to buy a TITI POST and support plastic recycling – DONATE TODAY!
