In 2024, we launched an ambitious Mega Corridor project to reconnect forests between Los Tities de San Juan in Bolívar and the Coraza Nature Reserve in Sucre, expanding habitat for the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin while strengthening local livelihoods. Beginning with twelve Tití Guardian women who cultivated more than 12,000 native seedlings and continuing with 32 farmers dedicating land to restoration, this initiative is building a living bridge where conservation and community grow together.

At Proyecto Tití, our mission is to protect cotton-top tamarins and the tropical dry forest—but we also believe that every animal matters. Over the years, we have adopted many abandoned dogs found near Los Tities de San Juan Forest Reserve, giving them a safe home, veterinary care, and lots of love.

Big things are growing at Proyecto Tití! A brand-new, solar-powered tree nursery is helping us take an important step forward in restoring forests and protecting the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin.

As Proyecto Tití restores tropical dry forest, the landscape begins to change in exciting ways. Native trees grow, habitat expands, and more wildlife returns—including top predators like the puma. With creativity, technology, and strong community partnerships, we’re showing that coexistence is not only possible—it’s already happening.

In managed care, the lifespan record for a tiny 1 pound, cotton-top tamarin is an astonishing 24 years. But what about in the wild, where life unfolds in a dynamic tropical forest? Thanks to nearly three decades of long-term research, Proyecto Tití is beginning to answer that question—one remarkable tamarin at a time.
