TamarANNE Tuesday: Building the Mega Corridor — Connecting Forests, Wildlife, and Communities

In 2024, we launched an ambitious Mega Corridor project to reconnect forests between Los Tities de San Juan in Bolívar and the Coraza Nature Reserve in Sucre, expanding habitat for the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin while strengthening local livelihoods. Beginning with twelve Tití Guardian women who cultivated more than 12,000 native seedlings and continuing with 32 farmers dedicating land to restoration, this initiative is building a living bridge where conservation and community grow together.

TamarAnne Tuesday: Between the Dry Forest and the Farms — How a Community Monitoring Network Was Born in Montes de María

In Colombia’s Montes de María region, farmers are transforming their lands into living wildlife corridors and open-air laboratories—working alongside conservation partners to monitor forest regeneration, document the return of primates, birds, and wild cats, and lead a powerful community-driven effort to reconnect and restore the tropical dry forest.

TamarANNE Tuesday: Adventures With My “AMIGOS” in Colombia

This year, I had the joy of welcoming a group of my long-time friends from Wisconsin and beyond to Colombia for an unforgettable visit to Proyecto Tití. Together, we journeyed into the heart of cotton-top tamarin country, where they experienced firsthand the conservation work and community partnerships that have shaped Proyecto Tití for so many years.

TamarANNE Tuesday: TITÍCUENTO — Inspiring the Next Generation of SalvaTitíes

TITÍCUENTO, the second module of TITÍ SHOW, uses Colombia’s rich oral storytelling traditions to connect culture and conservation, inspiring children and families to protect the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin. Through the story of Lucho and a call to become SalvaTitíes, the program transforms conservation into a personal and hopeful journey that encourages audiences to take action for wildlife and forests.

Proyecto Tití recognizes that protecting the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin also means ensuring the health of dogs and cats living in nearby communities, since diseases can pass between domestic animals and wildlife. Through the leadership of veterinarian Lorena Beltrán and strong community collaboration, a recent outreach effort in Los Límites provided health exams, deworming, and preventive care for 30 pets—strengthening both community well-being and wildlife conservation.
